Good morning, Lacie.
(Apologies - My last letter had a misspelling. Please use this version. Thank you)
I hope that my email below can be included as public comment on Bozeman's growth policy. I am unable
to make the planning board meeting next week.
I live in downtown Bozeman. I like to walk to downtown coffee shops and ride my bike to work and along
the trails. This the Bozeman lifestyle that I cherish and want to preserve, as well as bolster. Therefore, I
want to encourage the planning board, and ultimately, the city commission, to prioritize preserving open
space, walkability, bike lanes and public transportation above all else.
I support decreasing the emphasis on cars in the downtown area in exchange for bike lanes and greater
walkability. I have on multiple occasions felt unsafe as a pedestrian crossing Main Street, Mendenhall or
Babcock in a cross walk or at a light with a walk signal. I fear this problem will only get worse as our city
grows if not addressed.
Also, I'm concerned about sprawl west of town. Therefore, I would encourage greater density within the
city limits while preserving open space and agricultural lands outside of an identified, high-growth area.
And I hope that all decisions made by the city of Bozeman pertaining to growth are done so in alignment
with the city's climate action plan.
I thank the planning board, and ultimately, our elected city leaders for tackling growth in Bozeman in an
environmentally-conscious, fiscally-responsible and forward-looking manner.
Sincerely,
Chelsi Moy
