It would be a huge success in my opinion if an outcome of the growth policy update process was establishing some sort of annexation procedure that allows the city to focus on developing within the existing city boundaries and preserving open space and agricultural lands, with support and coordination from the county, outside the boundary. In addition, we need a forward-thinking policy in place that prevents creation of additional county inholdings within the city's boundaries as they currently exist and a process to annex these appropriately. As tough as it is to see my hometown change, I think there is benefit to promoting preservation of open space and prioritizing infill and increased density within the core of the city for longer term sustainability of the quality of life we've all come to appreciate about this special place.
