HomeMy WebLinkAboutHH comments G-O v4 for Board1 Tom Rogers From:Henry Happel <hap@fastmail.fm> Sent:Tuesday, April 30, 2019 11:26 AM To:Tom Rogers; Chris Saunders Subject:Goals and Objectives, V4 Attachments:190328_Bozeman_GoalsObjectives_V4-Clean-hh.docx; 190328 _Bozeman_GoalsObjectives_V4-hh.docx Tom and Chris— I’ve gone through the Goals and Objectives, V4 document that is up for discussion this evening. I think I am in agreement with all the Objectives in this document. However, IMHO, a lot of the wording could be improved. So I’ve done some word-smithing. The result is attached. A couple of comments: 1. I did not intend by any of my revisions to change the substance of any of the documents provisions. 2. What’s attached is a clean version with my changes; the marked up version may be too much of a mess to be helpful, but I’ll attach it as well for whatever it’s worth. 3. Next to some of the “Rationale” sections is language in brackets. These are words that I deleted from Objectives under that Rationale because they describe a reason for the objective, not the objective itself, so I think the concept should be in the Rationale when it gets drafted. 4. The objective that was under The Shape of the City didn’t seem to belong there, and now appears under the first Goal in A City that Prioritizes Accessibility and Mobility Choices. 5. The first objective, about trail connectivity, under the “Encourage identifiable neighborhoods” Goal in A City of Neighborhoods has been moved to the first Goal under A City that Prioritizes Accessibility and Mobility Choices, where it would seem to belong. 6. I also moved the third objective, about sidewalk maintenance, under the “Support well-planned, walkable neighborhoods designed to retain and enhance their character” Goal in A City of Neighborhoods to the second Goal under A City that Prioritizes Accessibility and Mobility Choices. I’d be happy to hear back from you with any criticisms, questions, or comments about the enclosed draft. Unless you think it’s a bad idea, I intend to make copies of the clean version and pass these out at tonight’s meeting.
