HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-09-19 Public Comment - A. McPherson - Parking Disaster in Bozeman To The Bozeman City Commission:
This letter is in regard to the article in the Bozeman Chronicle on May 7`h about the parking debate for
downtown Bozeman. There is a significant problem with parking in both downtown Bozeman and the
outlying areas surrounding downtown. I manage the parking lots for a company three blocks from
downtown. We have private parking lots. Since the development of downtown, I have consistently
struggled with people parking in our lots who are not authorized to park here. They have all stated that
there is not ample parking downtown and that they are parking in our lots in an effort to be able to shop
downtown. Our company has multiple employees who are already struggling to find a space to park in
our lots. The overflow of people wanting to park here to get to the downtown area has exacerbated the
problem for our already limited space just to meet the demands of our employees and their customers.
If the proposed hotel is buil'twithout adequate parking space, my parking lots that are already
overwhelmed will create a disastrous situation. While I do understand the want of others for growth in
the area, I do not understand a style of planning that does not take other long term businesses into
account.
Bozeman is a community. Allowing additional building that does not support the entire community is
simply counter productive and quite frankly is disrespectful toward other businesses that have been in
this area for many years.
Sincerely,
Alice McPherson
