I was completely alarmed this morning when my daughter forwarded me Jeff Krauss' radio interview on
KMMS this morning. This forced annex of property that is considered county, but happens to be
surrounded by city, is just plain wrong and wreaks of greed. My daughter was ABLE to afford to buy
property in the "donut" because it was considered "rural" and she was a first time home buyer. She is also a
Bozeman native who cannot afford anything else in this town. She attended a rural county school, Bozeman
High School and Montana State University. I am completely sickened that our City commissioners would
even CONSIDER doing this when, at the same time, they are allowing and condoning the building of condos,
literally everywhere, that are out-pricing the children who were born and raised here. It is an outrage and
they can expect outrage if this is attempted. We have paid taxes here for 40 years. This is completely unfair.
Not sure if my other daughter who has a great job here and also was born and raised here, will be able to
afford ANYTHING in Bozeman. Can't you figure out a way to tax the wealthy, transfer in, telecommuting,
trust fund population? I recently saw a report by Prospera that showed 26% of the income in this county is
from Trust Funds. Come on....give the local kids a break and leave it alone. This completely stands in the
forefront of you guys not really creating affordable housing in our community. What is happening to our
town. PLEASE do not do this to people. Please find your revenue elsewhere. Thank you for listening.
