Dear Bozeman City Hall,
I am a fifth grade student at morning star school. I am writing to you about plastic straws
and if they should be banned in bozeman.
One viewpoint is that we could ban plastic straws in major restaurants in Bozeman.
Another viewpoint is that we should not ban straws and leave if how it has always been.
I think that we should ban plastic straws at major restaurants in Bozeman. My first reason
for this is the marine life that is killed by the plastic in the ocean. Each year 100,000 marine
creatures are killed by plastic pollution in the ocean. My second reason is the giant landfills that
are filled with plastic bags and lots of different kinds of plastic. My third reason is the tiny
amount that gets recycled. Only 9% of all plastic straws get recycled. If we keep this up we are
going to destroy the earth. Then what will we do?
I have 2 solutions in mind. First, we could use paper straws that don't create as much
pollution as plastic straws because you can burn paper and not plastic. Or we could not use
plastic straws at all.
I think that we should ban plastic straws because they kill wildlife, are creating pollution,
and are not getting recycled. We could use alternatives like paper or we could not use them at all.
Thank you for reading my letter, and I hope you take my ideas into consideration.
Sincerely,
Bronson Hall
