Hello, my name is Wilder Pritham, I am from Morning Star
Elementary, and I am writing to talk to you about putting a speed sign on
Leverich Road.
know that a lot of people would say that we don't need a sign, that it
wouldn't be useful, or that it wouldn't be shown, as something helpful. The
other side would say that yes, we do need it and it is very important that we
have it.
take the side that it is very important that we need to get a speed
sign, and we need it immediately, and I have many reasons that support
me.
My first reason is that there would be less car crashes. Studies show
that speeding is the second reason of car crashes, which is pretty high up
there considering that more crashes are caused by speeding, and less by
drunk driving! My second reason is that there would be less potholes. I live
on a dirt road, so when someone stops and then speeds up, we get many
potholes, which is both annoying, and unsafe. We get potholes constantly,
to the point where I can't even remember driving down my road without
going over a pothole. My third reason is that there would be less tickets. It
is both a huge annoyance, plus a money waster for getting speeding
tickets, I think that getting a speed sign would help people slow down, so
they don't have to get a ticket! A solution we could have is instead of a
speed sign,is that we could get a speed bump instead, so that there
wouldn't be a speed limit, but there would still be a consequence for going
really fast. Or, we could get a speed monitor, which might be a bit more
expensive but people could tell better if they are going too fast, or if they
are allowed to speed up a little.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you will put into consideration a
speed sign so that we could have less car crashes, less Potholes, less
tickets. I feel that getting a speed sign, a speed bump, or a speed monitor,
would help our community greatly.
