Schlatter - Downtown Bozeman Improvement PlanFrom:Abby Schlatter To:Agenda Subject:Downtown Bozeman Improvement Plan - Feedback Date:Saturday, April 13, 2019 10:59:46 AM Hello City Commission members, I am emailing in support of the downtown Bozeman improvement plan. As a business owner and leader whose company (commonFont) is located downtown (at 220 West Lamme Street),I am invested in the continued improvement of and future vision for the downtown area. I believe that several aspects of the Downtown Improvement Plan are of critical importance: Prioritization of walkable, bikeable, and connected spaces that are safe for pedestriansand bikers and that highlight our community's natural assets. Bozeman should invest heavily in developing bike and walking paths and naturalareas that highlight and connect our community. These paths should serve as a conduit from other parts of the community tothe downtown area and should take advantage of our community's natural resources.Bozeman should slow down traffic on Babcock and Mendenhall and prioritize the safety of pedestrians in an expanded or wider downtown area.To the extent possible, through traffic and faster-moving traffic should be shifted outside of the downtown area (to Peach or streets further afield). This will help make Babcock and Mendenhall safer for pedestrians and more attractive development areas for downtown businesses thatrely on foot traffic. Bozeman should consolidate private parking areas and create public parkingstructures that build up or down (underground), vs. dedicating valuable real estate to a patchwork of surface area parking lots.Prioritization of future development plans that: Prioritize diversity of use (retail, business, open space, and mixed residential thatis inclusive of community and encourages use by people of mixed socio- economic backgrounds)Enforce environmental and aesthetic guidelines (no more Andy Holloran style buildings, please)Promote community and inclusivity and keep our downtown open to and accessible by everyone in the community Thank you for accepting public comments and feedback. Please let me know of questions or ways that I may be of support. Best, Abby-- Abby SchlatterCEO | commonFont e: abby.schlatter@commonfont.comp: (404) 849-1257
