Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
My name is Allen May and I live at 419 Fieldstone Drive. I am writing in support of the
recently released Downtown plan.
For the last 12 years I have worked, shopped, and enjoyed the multiple entertainmentopportunities of our Downtown. I have tracked the planning process and attended the rollout
of the plan last Monday and was impressed with the both vision and the practical nature of theplan. We know that for our downtown to remain viable as both an economic and cultural hub
of our growing city we must ensure that people live and work in close proximity to theamenities and businesses that it develops and attracts. I feel this plan recognizes that and offers
direction on how we should increase both residential density and multi modal transportation insupport of these goals without a significant impact on motorized access.
With this plan as guidance our downtown will continue to reflect how Bozeman hopes to to
grow as a clean, fair, and prosperous city accessible to all of its residents. I hope with yoursupport it will also set a standard as we develop other high density models of neighborhood
development elsewhere in our city. This approach to urban development not only reflectswhat urban citizens increasingly want as quality of life amenities but offers a fiscally
responsible way to optimize current infrastructure vs the high financial and environmentalcosts of suburban sprawl.
Thanks again for the opportunity to offer my comments and I hope now we as a city can start
the hard work of implementing its forward thinking recommendations.
