This is greater detail of what I was trying to say in first public comment regarding the below linked property,
208 Lindy place, Bozeman MT.

To me the builder, owner, architecture preserve the historical fabric by designing historical elements into
the new building, which placed behind the facia, front porch that was deemed historical and forced to
keep. I think it takes away from the historical elements that are incorporated into the new beautiful
building, ridiculous! An additional Barrie to entry, for affluent, creative, owners that want to build close to
downtown, location, location, location.
There needs to be a standard that says hey this front facia, porch is not historical and the elements of
historical preservation are incorporated into the new building, that is what we want right? That is what I
want. I want people moving here that can reinvest in this historical preserved areas taking talent from MSU
Architecture school or Bozeman Architecture community and allowing the possibility of a new historical
structure, built in style of anyone of the last decades that have afforded different architecture styles.
For the area that was expanded by the COB council on Monday night, south and I think east, take a drive
down those streets, grid it up. Look at what has been tore down and rebuilt. Beautiful, new builds all
unique adding value to eccentric neighbors. I do not want a historical preservation stiffen the creative,
ingenuity, prospect spirit that adds value time and again to the City of Bozeman. Where do we want this
spirit to flourish, not outside of COB core, which I think with additional historical overlay drives talent away.
Yes there is historical buildings within the overlay and lemons many lemons that should be tore down and
have something else built on that adds value to the City of Bozeman, not forced to keep a front facia/porch
like 208 Lindy Place that takes value away from the investment placed behind!
Dude home depo, Lowes, wayfair, anyone of thousands of companies within the last 25 years all focused
within the building industry. This is a multi trillion industry, let people build.
Thank you,
City Of Bozeman
