STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS VS. VISION THEMES]
The Bozeman Strategic Plan is the overarching statement of policy for the City. It
was adopted by the City Commission on March 5, 2018 by Resolution 4852 after a
24-month process of community discussion and evaluation. The Strategic Plan
provides an overarching vision and seven subsequent detailed vision statements
outlining how the City of Bozeman operates and interacts with its citizens and other
community partners. While long range planning efforts help guide change over time,
the Strategic Plan is intended to focus on specific outcomes over the next 2-5 years.
The Strategic Plan provides direction to this Community Plan through the vision
statement: A Well-Planned City, “We consistently improve our community's quality of
life as it grows and changes, honoring our sense of place and the "Bozeman feel" as
we plan for a livable, affordable, more connected city.” This vision statement focuses
on balanced growth, high quality planning and design, strategic infrastructure
choices, districts, and neighborhood centers.
The Strategic Plan identifies five specific actions to advance the vision statement.
Individual implementation tasks are also identified. The five specific actions are
consistent with long standing City policies and are supported by the longer range
goals and objectives contained in this Community Plan. The five actions are:
4.1 Informed Conversation on Growth
Continue developing an in-depth understanding of how Bozeman is growing and
changing and proactively address change in a balanced and coordinated manner.
4.2 High Quality Urban Approach
