My brother and sister in law are long-time residents of Bozeman. Over the years I have visited Bozeman a number of times, by myself and with family. My recent trip (I have just returned) was to visit my brother, who has developed a terminal lung condition. Given the circumstances, it was a good trip...until I left. I normally have Pre-check at airports, but there was a glitch, so I went through the regular security. Normally I inform someone that I have had a hip replacement. On this occasion, there was no one to tell, so predictably I set off the alarm. They showed me the X-ray. No surprise: the white shadow was just where you would expect for a hip replacement. I then had an appropriate hand check of my torso. Nothing out of the ordinary. But then I went to a second TSA security guy. He gruffly recited what he was going to do to me. He went on and on, so I finally said it was OK, just do it. Not sure if he took offense to my tone, but his pat-down was very aggressive, exceedingly so. While putting on my shoes, another traveler commiserated, saying he had travelled a lot and the Bozeman security was the worst he had experienced. Ditto for me. I have travelled widely here and abroad. I have had bad TSA experiences, but this was the worst. I complained to a supervisor, but that proved to be comically futile. I am writing to you because I know Bozeman relies on tourism. I can imagine the airport security keeping people away. I know I will have a dilemma next time I want to visit. Hoping that you can voice this problem to the airport or to the TSA. I have already written to the latter.
