However, in the past four days I have been in two very close calls in the same area of south 19th, both due to the same problem. The second south-bound lane of 19th becomes a turning lane at the Stucky intersection. Drivers either don't know that the lane is ending, presume that their driving lane continues and then barrel into the middle lane, or, alternatively, they are trying to beat traffic by merging late without checking their blind spots. This bottleneck has been an issue since the lane was created, but it's so much worse now given the volume of traffic through that area. Twice this week while driving in the south bound lane I have ended up with a driver in error at my passenger door while the driver behind me has had to pull into the median to avoid rear ending me. I consider myself a cautious driver and always anticipate that other drivers will be stupid and unpredictable, which is the only reason the other drivers didn't run me over. I have come to the conclusion that there is simply no way that I can be safe while driving through that intersection. The second lane must be built to connect on the other side of Grace Bible Church. I know Bozeman prefers developers to pay for such improvements, but that intersection is simply too dangerous to wait. I assume your department keeps a list of intersections that require prompt improvement. Please add the intersection of Stucky and 19th to your list immediately. In the meantime, I am going to invest in a dash cam. Thank you, Chandra Lind
