The entire length of the North side of the 500 block of West Harrison, save 509 West Harrison (my house), has been
shoveled only very occasionally for most of the winter. This isn’t the first time I’ve brought this to the attention of
the city, and, like always, I expect that little to nothing will be done about it. I suggested at the beginning of this
winter that it might be a good idea to set the tone for the winter by handing out warnings, but that suggestion seems
to have been ignored. Like Sisyphus, I am condemned to keep trying.
If city government desires a positive response to appeals to home owners for approval of additional property tax
increases, it would behoove the city to pay attention to the basic things that make for a livable community, such as
ordinance enforcement. If the budget is insufficient to perform such basic and essential duties, the glitz, such as
additional parks and trails might have to wait. I say that as an avid supporter and very frequent user of our trail
system.
This was also sent to the mayor and the compliance officer.
