Mr. Happel,
My understanding is the Bozeman Planning Board will be considering the
proposed Downtown Bozeman Plan at its meeting tomorrow.
Attached is a letter from the Bozeman (Area) Pedestrian and Traffic Safety
Committee supporting the proposed plan but with one caveat and one observation.
Please make sure the letter is shared with your Board at tomorrow's meeting.
Thank you.

MEMORANDUM
TO: `Chair and Members of Bozeman Planning Board

SUBJECT: Proposed Downtown Bozeman Plan
With one caveat and one observation, the Bozeman (Area) Pedestrian and Traffic Safety
Committee supports the approval and implementation of the draft Downtown Bozeman Plan.
We urge you to support the plan.
We came to that conclusion after Mr. Chris Naumann, Executive Director of the Downtown
Bozeman Partnership, met with us twice to tell us about the transportation components of the
plan. Both times Chris made relevant documents available to us for our review.
The caveat is that Mr. Naumann has assured us that none of the proposed significant
changes in controlling pedestrian movements and the movements and parking of both motorized
and non-motorized vehicles will be implemented until those specific changes are subjected to
engineering review and approval. Your support of the plan should specifically require that
engineering review and approval before implementation.
A key component of the plan is the minimization of truck traffic on Main Street. Our
observation is that objective would be desirable even if nothing else in the plan were
implemented. Therefore, we encourage the City to initiate/renew efforts to remove as much truck
traffic from Main Street as possible.
I will not be at your meeting tomorrow and therefore I request copies of this letter be
shared with all Board members.
Thank you for your consideration.
