This letter is being sent to protest the creation of the Special Improvement
Lighting District No. 751. As property owners in the proposed district, we have a
number of reasons we feel this is an assessment that should not be placed on the
small number of residents of the Flanders Creek Subdivision.
It seems the main reason for this is the High Schools building budget did
not address the lighting they now feel is necessary. If the school needs more than
what is already there, it should be them, not our Subdivision that needs to pay
this cost. There are street light on said street, but someone feels more lighting is
necessary. If it is the city that feels there is a need, it should be a city fee, not on
placed on our subdivision.
The fact that we have a low lighting area is a nice part of our
neighborhood. There is plenty of light pollution through the Bozeman area. The
more lights we add in this section of the valley the less of the night sky we see.
This assessment is not a one time, or a short term kind of payment. It will
go on our property forever. Not only is it forever, an increase can be approved by
the Public Service Commission which we would not have any say in approving.
We protest the creation of this district.
