I am writing you to report an Animal control officer wasting taxpayer dollars sitting in a running truck or
skiing near Sundance Springs. This happens over and over, even on weekends. This is a lightly used trail
area, and on many occasions I have witnessed him there in extreme cold and snow conditions when 99.9%
of users have stayed home. Issues in this area are rare, in my experience. Are there no other areas of
Bozeman where his efforts would be useful to the community? From watching Bozeman Lost Pet on
Facebook, I think the answer is a big yes. Or does the city only serve one low use area around an expensive
Sundance Springs where more and more of the homes are seasonal use? In an interaction with Tim he is
nice guy but very law-enforcement like, almost toxic masculine in his behavior. This is not helpful in a role
that needs to be as much about outreach as enforcement. I'm not sure he is the right fit for the job. I have
spoken to several other people in the neighborhood, and this perspective of him is widespread. A better
use of his approach and skills would be to focus on Peets Hill, which has become an out of control dog park.
Having contributed to efforts to protect Peets Hill 30ish years ago, this is heartbreaking. Peets is a
community gem with extreme usage and should be more valued by all users and more safe for moms, kids,
and the elderly who live and walk there. Please don't turn Bozeman into a Jackson or Aspen where a couple
of elites run the city.
Thank you,
City Of Bozeman
