Parking spaces and access aisles shall be designed sothat cars and vans, when parked, cannot obstruct the required clear width of adjacent accessibleroutes.503 Passenger Loading Zones503.2 Vehicle Pull-Up Space. Passenger loading zones shall provide a vehicular pull-up space 96inches (2440 mm) wide minimum and 20 feet (6100 mm) long minimum.503.3 Access Aisle. Passenger loading zones shall provide access aisles complying with 503adjacent to the vehicle pull-up space. Access aisles shall adjoin an accessible route and shall notoverlap the vehicular way.503.3.1 Width. Access aisles serving vehicle pull-up spaces shall be 60 inches (1525 mm) wideminimum.503.3.2 Length. Access aisles shall extend the full length of the vehicle pull-up spaces they serve.503.3.3 Marking. Stairs that are part of the means of egress is required to comply with 504504.2 Treads and Risers. All steps on a flight of stairs shall have uniform riser heights anduniform tread depths. Risers shall be 4 inches (100 mm) high minimum and 7 inches (180 mm)high maximum. Treads shall be 11 inches (280 mm) deep minimum.504.3 Open Risers. Open risers are not permitted.504.4 Tread Surface. Stair treads shall comply with 302. Changes in level are not permitted.504.5 Nosings. The radius of curvature at the leading edge of the tread shall be 1/2 inch (13mm) maximum. Nosings that project beyond risers shall have the underside of the leading edgecurved or beveled. Risers shall be permitted to slope under the tread at an angle of 30 degreesmaximum from vertical. Stairs shall have handrails complying with 505.504.7 Wet Conditions. Stair treads and landings subject to wet conditions shall be designed toprevent the accumulation of water.505 Handrails505.1 General. Handrails provided along walking surfaces complying with 403, required at rampscomplying with 405, and required at stairs complying with 504 shall comply with 505.Advisory 505.1 General. Handrails are required on ramp runs with a rise greater than 6 inches(150 mm) (see 405.8) and on certain stairways (see 504). Handrails are not required on walkingsurfaces with running slopes less than 1:20. However, handrails are required to comply with 505when they are provided on walking surfaces with running slopes less than 1:20 (see 403.6).Sections 505.2, 505.3, and 505.10 do not apply to handrails provided on walking surfaces withrunning slopes less than 1:20 as these sections only reference requirements for ramps and stairs.505.2 Where Required. Handrails shall be provided on both sides of stairs and ramps.505.3 Continuity. Handrails shall be continuous within the full length of each stair flight or ramprun. Inside handrails on switchback or dogleg stairs and ramps shall be continuous between flightsor runs.505.4 Height. Walking surfaces that are a part of an accessible route shall comply with 403.403.2 Floor or Ground Surface. Floor or ground surfaces shall comply with 302.403.3 Slope. The running slope of walking surfaces shall not be steeper than 1:20. The cross slope ofwalking surfaces shall not be steeper than 1:48.403.4 Changes in Level. Changes in level shall comply with 303.403.5 Clearances. Walking surfaces shall provide clearances complying with 403.5.EXCEPTION: Within employee work areas, clearances on common use circulation paths shall be permitted tobe decreased by work area equipment provided that the decrease is essential to the function of the workbeing performed.403.5.1 Clear Width. THE COTTONWOOD-IDA SITE IS LOCATED IN THE NORTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD OF BOZEMAN,
MONTANA. THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS AN ACTIVE MIXTURE OF CONTEMPORARY WORK SPACES,
INDUSTRIAL ARTS AND DISTRIBUTION CENTERS, AS WELL AS SMALL BUSINESSES AND SINGLE-
FAMILY RESIDENCES. THE SITE IS BOUNDED BY E COTTONWOOD STREET TO THE SOUTH, N IDA
AVENUE TO THE EAST, AND E ASPEN STREET TO THE NORTH. THE DESIGN AIMS TO CONTRIBUTE

species of herbaceous perennials, and grasses accepting of
maintenance by annual mowing and limited irrigation;

Sec. 38.550.060.C.1.
A maximum of eight points may be awarded when a site is
graded and/or terraced utilizing natural stone or prefabricated
decorative masonry retaining wall material as a drystack or
mortared wall. In order to qualify for the points available in this
section the wall portion must:
a. Be five percent of the length of the total perimeter of the lot
or artificial lot for each two points to be awarded;
b. Have a vertical face surface of at least one foot along the
length of the area to be considered for subsection C.2.a of this
section;
c. Be integrated with other landscaping materials and grading
on the site; and
d. Be complementary to the overall grading of the site and the
activities and architecture contained on the site.
e. One point is awarded for each stone boulder not smaller
than three feet in diameter which is integrated with other
landscaping, up to a maximum of three points;

a maximum of eight points. The lot area must meet pedestrian-
oriented space design criteria set forth in section 38.520.060.D.
