REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Bob Murray, Project Engineer
Shawn Kohtz, City Engineer
SUBJECT: Right of Way Acquisition Project - Task Order Number 4 for the Davis Lane
Lift Station Project.
MEETING DATE: February 25th
, 2019
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent
RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize the City Manager to sign Task Order Number 4
with Sanderson Stewart.
BACKGROUND: Attached is a copy of the partially executed Task Order Number 4 with
Sanderson Stewart for the Right of Way Acquisition Project for the Davis Lane Lift Station.
The design of the Davis Lane lift station and Norton Trunk sewer main improvements project is
about to begin. The current plan calls for the lift station to be sited on the north side of the
interstate on city owned property. This will require a very long on grade bore to install a gravity
main across the interstate, railroad and frontage road. If the lift station could be moved to the
south side of the interstate, it would allow the bore to be for the pressure main which allows for
quite a bit more flexibility in the line and grade of the installation. This would make the bore
much more economical. The City has a term contract with Sanderson Stewart for right of way
acquisition services. This task order will add initial discussions with the property owners at the
intersection of Davis and Valley Center to determine the feasibility of acquiring property for the
lift station.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission
FISCAL EFFECTS: The proposed fee for this scope of work is paid on a time and materials
basis with a total cost not to exceed amount of $1,215.00.
