Prior Meeting minutes – 10/16/18 minutes were corrected and approved
New People introduction: Tracy Menuez – HRDC, Maria Ripley-Weamer – HRDC, Joseph
Menicucci – Belgrade, Jenny Pappas – HRDC, Heidi Worley (Dahn) – MSU, Daniel Peterson – Rider, Kristin Blackler- MSU
Public Comment – Daniel Peterson inquired about the completion date for the transfer station waiting
area. It was reported that the city needs to complete their remodeling before the waiting room can be
opened. No completion date has been set. The assistant city manager Chuck Winn should be contacted for the project's status. Sunshine Ross reported that a bench is to be placed near the stairs in the
meantime.
Daniel Peterson requested that the new drivers be advised against quick stops and starts while driving.
Next Meeting – January 22, 2019
Director's report - a)Sunshine Ross & Dan Martin reported various mechanical problems with the
vehicles. Galavan needs a new transmission, 613 needs a new engine, 611 has a questionable engine,
617 has rear end differential problems, 602 is backfiring. b) David Kack & Sunshine Ross to talk to MDT to request additional funds out of the emergency repair fund .
Treasurer's report - David Kack reported a) Ridership is up 2000 riders through October b) Revenues
tend to lag from the city and county. c) Galavan Paratransit budget may need $30k more. d) repairs &
maintenance are higher than expected. e) Streamline expenses are tracking at break even and some of the surplus could be used for Galavan. f) MDT has set aside about $100k a year for emergency repairs
that could be available upon request. The bus still has to be under lien by the state in order to access
the funds. g) He should know in a few weeks how much to apply for the 2012 budget from the Federal
Transportation bill that expires in October.
Late Night - Heidi Worley (Dahn) reported a)Late Night will be modified over holiday break. There
are new route options proposed. b) The on campus shuttle planning is ongoing. Student body
president Taylor Blossom met with David Kack. The purpose of the shuttle is to provide better access
to lesser used parking and move people from north to south on campus. c) Dan Martin will have a
driver test out the route ahead of time for timing. It will be a continuous loop with no timed stops. d) David Kack reported that there could be shelters in the future provided by MSU for the on campus
shuttle loop. e) David Kack said the Yellow and Orange lines will be used to connect the tech park,
there will be a spring time trial. f) Heidi Worley reported a 6 passenger vehicle will be used for the
airport shuttle during the high traffic breaks. A sign up sheet has been issued and is mostly full.
Subcommittee Report – a) per Sunshine Ross, they need to start looking at future routes to include all
the new areas that are being developed in the city. b) David Kack said a downtown/midtown circulator
could be one of these new routes if new funds are available. c)David Kack suggested reversing the Orange route to eliminate left turns which are causing timing delays and safety issues. d) Dan Martin said there has been problems with a Blue line driver modifying the route on their own. No stops are
being missed and there have been neighbor complaints. Dan said this route variation was originally on
the route plan . A motion was made and seconded to make this route change permanent and will be on
the agenda for the January 22 meeting. e) A new stop at the Heebs new location will be included in the future plans.
For the Good of the Bus – Sunshine Ross received a nice Thank you note from the WOW youth
group from Bozeman United Methodist Church. They used Streamline to deliver 70 bags / 700 lbs of
food to the food bank. Another group working with service dogs used a separate bus for training service dogs and was very appreciative of the opportunity.
