In March of 2016, a corridor study for Oak Street from Rouse to Cottonwood was reviewed and
adopted by the Commission. A number of the recommended improvements from the study have
been constructed. The next scheduled improvement is for the installation of a traffic signal along
with some geometric improvements to the intersection of Oak and 27th. The geometric
improvements consist of widening of the east leg of the intersection to provide a dedicated left-turn lane, through lane, and a shared through/right-turn lane. A Request for Proposals for the
engineering services was published in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle on August 12th and 19th,
with the proposals being due on September 7th. Proposals were received from 2 firms on the
project which were distributed to a selection committee of 3 city employees. The written
proposals were scored by the selection committee and Sanderson Stewart was selected the most qualified to complete the project.
