Devitt - Bike Trails ProjectsFrom:Sheila Devitt To:Agenda Subject:Biking Infrastructure Date:Tuesday, December 11, 2018 12:14:13 PM To the City Commission Members; I am writing to you to LOUDLY second the editoral by Mark Effe in the Bozeman Chronicle recently. Please add TMP projects SP-11 ( Gallagator Trail Paving), BL-21 (Babcock Cycle Track) and BB-2(Black Ave) to your capital improvement plan. And more that I have stated below.r With all the growth in Bozeman we need to be more bike friendly to get some of the cars off thestreets. I am almost 75 years old and have biked for many years. Recently, I bought an E-Bike WOW is it FUN!! I think as more people find the delight and ease in riding E-Bikes the demand forbetter biking infrastructure will definitely be needed. I live on the West side of town and like usingthe asphalt paved sidewalks to bike as I find street biking VERY scary. Although many drivers arevery considerate and either slow down or move over a bit to give a biker more space there areothers who come dangerously close and have my heart pounding. And as Mr Egge stated the bikelanes are covered in plowed snow piles in the winter. Can you designate 1/2 of the asphalt pavedpaths for bikers and also build more of them. I think bike paths leading to all the schools fromneighborhoods would encourage kids to bike, which is healthy and would save parents clogging thestreets to deliver and pick up kids. But, as the bike routes now are on the streets I assume parentsdon't feel they are safe, which I completely understand. Thank you sincerely for your good work and commitment to making Bozeman the envy of towns oursize by priortizing biking. Sheila Devitt4050 W.
