Re: Termination of Interlocal Agreement for Emergency Management
Dear Andrea:
Pursuant to paragraph 8 of the Interlocal Agreement between Gallatin County and the
City of Bozeman for Emergency Management and Hazardous Materials Program
Management, we are giving 30 day written notice of our intent to terminate the
agreement effective December 31, 2018.
The Emergency Management Director is a City employee, working in the Bozeman Fire
Department, who provides service to all of Gallatin County through this interlocal
agreement. This has been an incredibly successful partnership. However, the growth of
the County necessitates the growth of the Emergency Management program. After
consultation with the Emergency Management Director and the Bozeman Fire Chief we
think it is best to discontinue contracting for the service and provide it directly. Gallatin
County authorized an additional employee in the Department and will hire the current
director to provide a seamless transition and to ensure that the excellent service to
citizens and visitors continues.
The Bozeman Fire Chief and County Administrator are currently drafting an updated
Interlocal Agreement to continue the excellent relationship we have with regard to the
Hazardous Materials Program.
This is one of many examples of excellent cooperation between the City and County and
we hope it continues in the future. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
call.
cerely,
