I moved to Bozeman from California and want to share my suggestions. The residents of Bozeman do NOT want Bozeman to turn into another Californiawhere neighbors are stacked on top of neighbors, houses are so close to each other that you can almost touch your neighbor's window. This type of development is commonly referred toas "Smart Growth", when in fact it is not smart at all. Montana has an enormous amount of land and there is no reason whatsoever to create a plan where there are California live/workbuildings throughout the city causing severe traffic issues and an environment of anger and hate. Currently, all main traffic arteries into Bozeman are congested and residents areupset/angry/frustrated. Something I thought I would never see in Bozeman! It is the responsibility of the Planning Department to make sure that traffic flows quickly in and out ofthe main streets. Currently, this is not happening. 7th and 19th and Main Street are all congested. Before any further development occurs, the Planning Department should develop, install and complete a comprehensive Resident Friendly plan that takes traffic in and out of the city in a more timely and efficient manner. New arteries need to be made before anydevelopment should take place. It is not logical to think that everyone in the city of Bozeman can ride their bike, particularly in the snow. Road development needs to be a critical prioritybefore any form of growth happens within the city.
