Wallace - WinCo Grocery Store • 15 November 2018 —BSI QS Bozeman City Commissioners Post Office Box 1230 Bozeman, MT 59771 RE: WinCo Dear Commission: I wish to make my voice heard regarding the WinCo debate that seems embroiled in local bureaucracy. The recent article in the Chronicle got my hackles up enough that I am willing to part ways with a stamp to make my voice heard. As a lifelong Montanan and a Bozemanite of four decades, this is the first time I have contacted the commission. The anti-WinCo group is worried that another box store will take away from the "small town feel"of Bozeman. Can they be serious? If you see this elite group of people tell them for me that the small town feel left twenty years ago. These greedy,self-seeking whiners who are worried about competition from a store that would help the local struggling Bozemanite need to move beyond their"Not in My Backyard"feelings. The affordable housing movement has not amounted to anything but perhaps we can do better with an affordable grocery movement. The members of the WinCo rebellion also whined about their commute getting worse with traffic generated from WinCo. How ridiculous. I would also like to shake my finger and say "shame on you"to the Chronicle for not publishing the names of these folks and their associated businesses. The fact that this was deemed newsworthy but names were not printed is poor reporting. Has WinCo not jumped through enough hoops yet? What can be wrong with more jobs, an employee-owned company and lower grocery prices? Those all sound like positives that would benefit those of us who are trying to hang on in a place that doesn't feel much like home anymore. I will never own more than the dirt on the bottom of my cowgirl boots but maybe I can afford to buy groceries if you would please roll out the overdue welcome mat for WinCo. erely, J ey Wal ace ox 74 Bozeman W7q r,1,14 VI f
