Chris
Thanks very much for taking time to discuss the railroad impact with me this afternoon.
My wife and I live in the condos at Village Crossing Way so the impact of the railroad is very much
front and center to us.
We’ve lived here for 4 years and I believe there has been a significant increase in the number of
trains passing by daily in the past year and the noise associated with train horns as they pass several
guarded crossings in town. I would like to pursue the idea of creating quiet zones at the guarded
crossings at Wallace, Rouse and west Griffin Drive.
I am willing to do what I can to move this forward. I believe this is a serious quality of life issue, not
only for me but for many of the residents and businesses of Bozeman. I understand what’s required
in terms of additional crossing gates and medians at each intersection that would allow the trains to
pass without sounding horns. I also know it’s costly. But, I believe with sufficient support from the
city of Bozeman, our first responders, neighborhood associations and federal agencies, along with
Montana Rail Link we can get this done.
Please let me know appropriate next steps.
