BDBID Appointment Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Brenda Sweeney, Deputy City Clerk Robin Crough, City Clerk SUBJECT: Appointment to the Bozeman Downtown Business Improvement District Board (BDBID) MEETING DATE: October 1, 2018 MEETING TYPE: Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint one member to the Bozeman Downtown Business Improvement District Board to a term ending June 30, 2020. BACKGROUND: The Bozeman Downtown Business Improvement District Board (BDBID) has one vacancy due to the removal of a member who did not complete the City of Bozeman Annual Ethics Training in the spring of 2018. One application has been received by the former member after completion of the ethics training. Montana Code stipulates that BDBID Board members be owners of property within the district. In the past, several applicants were appointed to the board as "property owner representatives" because their property title named a corporation as the owner rather than the individual. For many years the City Commission has honored this precedent by appointing property owner representatives to the BID Board. The BID was originally created by Resolution No. 3361 and Ordinance No. 1517, per MCA 7-12- 1121, in May of 2000. In June of 2010, the BID was extended/recreated by Resolution No. 4263 for an additional ten years. The board shall be comprised of not less than five, nor more than seven, owners of property within the district. Members are appointed for staggered four-year terms. This board currently has one vacancy. The City Clerk’s Office has received one application with their relevant qualifications below. 1. One position with a term expiring June 30, 2020 | Qualifies: M.
