MOU with MSU School of Architecture for ADU Project1 REPORT TO: Mayor and City Commission FROM: Matthew Madsen, Affordable Housing Program Manager Martin Matsen, Director of Community Development SUBJECT: Ratify the City Managers signature on the Memorandum of Understanding with the Montana State University School of Architecture for the Accessory Dwelling Unit Project MEETING DATE: September 10th, 2018 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent RECOMMENDATION: That the City Commission ratify the City Managers signature on the Memorandum of Understanding with the Montana State University School of Architecture for the Accessory Dwelling Unit Project BACKGROUND: The City of Bozeman is partnering with the MSU School of Architecture to help facilitate the 4th year Community Design Class with a focus on the design of Accessory Dwelling Units for selected sites in the city of Bozeman. The MOU will serve as the guiding document for the partnership to include roles and responsibilities, material creation as well as funding. Funding for the project is broken down as follows: a. $8000.00 in City of Bozeman Funds to be used as follows: • Printing: $1200.00 • Models: $800.00 • Travel: $600.00 • Video production: $2000.00 • Design and Development of Outreach material: $400.00 • Construction & Lending Consultant Fees: $3,000.00 In addition, City of Bozeman staff time will be used to help with the site visits, teaching of class content around the site planning process and the actual review of plans for site plan and building permit requirements. The final products will include approved ADU plans, outreach materials and public presentations to the City Commission and community. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None determined at this time. Commission Memorandum 207 2 ALTERNATIVES: As determined by the Commission. FISCAL EFFECTS: The City of Bozeman will pay the Montana State University School of Architecture $8,000 total for the class. This includes $5,000 from the budget for the EpicN partnership and $3,000 from the Community Development Department’s consulting fund.
