Dear Commissioner Mehl,
I would like to draw to your attention the uneven maintenance of trail (and park) infrastructure currently under the
purview of the many HOAs in the city of Bozeman. Near where I live and where my family regularly uses trails, the
Legends subdivision has defaulted on the completion of planned and approved trails, major repairs and maintenance
after flooding this spring, and routine maintenance since then. Simple mowing and some shrub trimming along the
trail on bridger creek would make this Legends trail usable for more people, safe for users that pass one another on
the trial, and more appealing to a wider range of use modalities. I have heard the city is considering the creation of a
parks district to fund and oversee this type of obligation in the future and I wholeheartedly support this idea. In the
meantime, I wonder if you would ask city staff - and perhaps GVLT can help too - to contact the Legends HOA and
ask them to maintain their trails. Fall is an outstanding time to be outside and enjoy the city's trails, so the time is
right now. Thank you for your consideration.
