I am writing in regards to the R5 zoning designation. I am filing a public comment letter in
advocacy for the R5 development in the City of Bozeman. As a student in Bozeman, housing has
and continue to be an issue. Due to the housing market in Bozeman, affordable and convenient
housing is a nightmare for students. The city is in desperate need of affordable housing
throughout the city; a solution would be to implement a development of high-density multi-unit
residential zone such as the R5 designation. The higher density housing would be an ideal
solution for students like myself. The different variety of housing types can meet the desired
density while discouraging single type housing. Environmentally speaking, the zone would
create proximity to facilities without the need for a vehicle. The zone would create housing near
the soccer complex and large parks to allow quick access for exercise and recreational use.
Please take this public comment into consideration. Affordable housing affects not only students
but new residents who want to be part of the Bozeman community. I fully advocate for the R5
zoning designation.
