This is a large, single-story building, rectangular in plan and built on an east-west axis. The building rests on a concrete
foundation, and has a gable roof. The walls and roof are covered with corrugated, galvanized metal. Large, sliding
utility doors, clad with metal, are present on the east and west ends of the building.

The Montana Flour Mills Company built an alfalfa grinding and warehouse building at 1227 N. Rouse sometime
between 1927 and 1943. It stands at the southeast corner of the full city block which housed the company's elevator
and cereal mill plant. The building was a major addition to the site, but the impetus for the expansion and other details
of the Montana Flour Mills Company's operations on North Rouse are unknown. In 1967, the company sold its
statewide operation to Conagra, and the latter company closed its Bozeman plants, including this warehouse. There is
little readily available information about what functions the building may have served since plant closure. However, until
recently Weisman Steel leased the former site of the Montana Flour Mills Company plant on North Rouse and likely
occupied this building.

This building is a large, surviving remnant of the former Montana Flour Mills complex, formerly one of the largest
agricultural processing facilities in the city of Bozeman. Though the building is of substantial scale, it performed an
ancillary function for the complex as a whole, and the destruction and redevelopment of much of the overall site is
greatly impacting its integrity. In addition, as of this writing, work is just beginning on a major redevelopment of this
building, one that will alter its use and see its fenestration pattern change substantially. For these reasons, this building
is not eligible for listing in the National Regiister of Historic Places due to a lack of integrity.

This building retains integrity of location. Integrity of setting has been destroyed by the removal or redevelopment of
the remaining buildings of the Flour Mills complex. Reconstruction of this building is beginning, and it is expected that
remaining aspects of integrity will be diminished or lost by these actions now underway.
