Number the buildings and features to correlate with the Site Map. This is a single-story, wood-framed house displaying limited elements of the Queen Anne architectural style. The building is rectangular in plan, and has a gable roof surfaced with asphalt shingles. The building faces west; this elevation is defined by a shallow, gable-roofed octagonal bay north of the main entry. Roof eaves on both the main building and the bay have partial returns. Walls are clad with wide-lap exterior siding, which is non-historic. Windows are wood-framed and primarily double-hung, although there is a large fixed-light unit in the bay. Most windows appear to be historic. The building rests on a modern concrete foundation. The front door opens onto a large wooden deck, which is modern and visually intrusive. A wood-framed garage on a concrete foundation exists near the southeast corner of the lot. It has narrow lap siding, a gable roof with asphalt shingles and exposed rafter tips, and a paneled-wood overhead garage door. MONTANA HISTORIC PROPERTY RECORD PAGE 3 Property Name: 620 N. Rouse Ave. Site Number: 24 GA 1719 HISTORY OF PROPERTY ❑ See Additional Information Page The house at 620 N. Rouse was moved to this location in about 1958. The owner at that time was Oscar Dean. Dean apparently did not live at the house, however. The building stood vacant in 1959, and by 1961 James and Linnie McGuire rented it. Rouse Ave. Site Number: 24 GA 1719 NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES NRHP Listing Date: NRHP I"Iigi1)iIity: ❑Yes ®No ❑Individually ❑ Contributing to Historic District ❑Noncontributing to Historic District NRHP Criteria: ❑ A ❑B ❑C ❑D Area of Significance: Period of Significance: STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE ❑ See Additional Information Page This building is a small, Queen Anne-style house, a design not common among the vernacular residences more typically found in Bozeman's northeastern neighborhood. The house, which probably dates from ca. 1900, is a representative example of the type, but the building was moved to this location after the historic period. Because of the loss of integrity caused by this move, the house is ineligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. INTEGRITY(location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, association) ❑ See Additional Information Page This building largely retains integrity of design. Integrity of materials and workmanship have been diminished by the addition of non-original exterior cladding. Other aspects of integrity are lost, due to the building's non-historic relocation.
