Concisely, accurately, and completely describe the property and alterations with dates. Number the buildings and features to
correlate with the Site Map.
This is a two-story, irregularly-shaped, residence displaying elements of the Queen Anne architectural style. The
building is of wood-frame construction. The cross gable roof is covered with asphalt shingles and pierced by stove
pipes. The exterior is sided with asbestos shingles, except in the gable ends where the original fishscale shingles
remain. There is a two-story octagonal bay in the north elevation. The original 1/1 double-hung windows remain in-
place, and there is an historic cottage window in the primary (west) elevation. The porch has a hip roof and has been
enclosed using large 4 x 4 windows; this is non-original, but likely historic. The house stands on a modern concrete
foundation and basement. On the east end of the house's north side is a shed-roofed addition with the same siding as
the house.
A non-historic three-stall garage stands southeast of the house. It has a hip roof, vertical wood siding, overhead
garage doors on the west, and a person door on the north end.

HISTORY OF PROPERTY ❑ See Additional Information Page
The house standing at 616 N. Rouse was moved to this location in 1965. Its former position is unknown. The owner of
616 at the time of the move may have been Oscar Dean, the man who also apparently moved an older house to 620 N.
Rouse several years earlier.

STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE ❑ See Additional Information Page
This building is a large, Queen Anne-style house, not in keeping with the smaller residences more typically found in
Bozeman's northeastern neighborhoods. The house, which probably dates from ca. 1900, is a representative example
of the type, but the building was moved to this location after the historic period. Because of the loss of integrity caused
by this move, the house is ineligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
INTEGRITY(location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, association) ❑ See Additional Information Page
This building largely retains integrity of design. Integrity of materials and workmanship have been diminished by the
addition of non-original exterior cladding. Other aspects of integrity are lost, due to the building's non-historic
relocation.
