DRB Appointments Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Brenda Sweeney, Deputy City Clerk Robin Crough, City Clerk SUBJECT: Appointment(s) to the Design Review Board (DRB) MEETING DATE: August 20, 2018 MEETING TYPE Action RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to appoint up to four members to the Design Review Board to the following positions and terms: One Architect position with a term ending June 30, 2020, One Landscape Architect/Design position with a term ending June 30, 2020, and/or Two Non-Professional positions with terms ending June 30, 2020. BACKGROUND: The Design Review Board (DRB) currently has four vacant positions: 1. One Architect position with a term ending June 30, 2020 (due to a term expiration as of June 30, 2018). 2. One Landscape Architect/Design position with a term ending June 30, 2020 (due to a term resignation as of June 30, 2018). 3. Two Non-Professional positions with terms ending June 30, 2020 (due to term expirations as of June 30, 2018). The Design Review Board was created under Section 18.62 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. Members are appointed to staggered two-year terms. The Board is charged with the design review of certain plans and proposals and should be comprised of six professional and two non-professional members. Professional members should be degreed in their respective disciplines and/or otherwise licensed or certified by their respective professional authorities. They shall include four architects, one architectural historian, one landscape architect/designer, and two non-professional members. At least one of the professional members shall have a demonstrated expertise in urban design. The non-professional members shall have an interest in, or knowledge of, architecture, urban design, or historic preservation. No member shall serve as a member of the City Planning Board or the Zoning Commission concurrently. The Board is generally advisory to the City Planning Board, Board of Adjustment, and the City Commission, although it does make the final decisions on some minor applications. 289 This board currently has four vacancies.
