Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners,
Resolution 4948 Revising the Purpose and Structure of the Community Affordable Housing Advisory
Board recommends “combining the Real Estate Lending and Real Estate Sales Representatives”
positions.
I respectfully request you reconsider combining the two positions as they are positions with two
distinct skill sets. A Lender is typically a banker who deals with financial information and regulation.
Industry regulations change daily and part of the lender’s job is to monitor that information.
Essentially, however, a lender only deals with finance. A REALTOR® is skilled in sales and embedded
in the community with working knowledge of real estate. A REALTOR® might have knowledge about
residential, commercial, or even mixed use developments. A REALTOR® who might speak about
lending would be in violation of the REALTOR® code of ethics. Likewise, a lender speaking about the
state of real estate would not have access to pertinent or relevant data and would be speaking out
of turn.
Please feel free to reach out if you have questions about the distinction between the two positions.
We are happy to answer any questions you might have.
