MOA with MDT for Griffin Drive Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Rick Hixson, City Engineer SUBJECT: Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached City/State Memorandum of Agreement, Griffin Drive (U-1217), Maintenance Agreement, with the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Consent MEETING DATE: August 13, 2018 RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached City/State Memorandum of Agreement, Griffin Drive (U-1217), Maintenance Agreement, with the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). BACKGROUND: The City has plans to make significant improvements to the Griffin Drive corridor over the next three fiscal years (FY). The intersection of Manley Road and Griffin Drive is scheduled to be upgraded in FY 2020 and the Griffin Drive is scheduled for FY 2021. In addition it is anticipated that improvements to Manley Road will be made as early as next summer. Because Griffin Drive is an Urban Route (U-1217) and under the jurisdiction of MDT, prior to making those improvements the city is required to agree to the conditions in the attached Memorandum of Agreement. The agreement has been exhaustively reviewed by the legal department as well as by the Engineering Division. The responsibilities detailed in the agreement are identical to activities we are already performing, hence we are recommending entering into this agreement. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: None. FISCAL EFFECTS: None.
