Commissions asked for input.
If the commission is serious about affordable housing, the commission shouldadopt a code or whatever is needed to require complexes over 10 units to have
FHA and Fannie certification so that buyers can obtain loans at reasonable rates.
The cost of the certification is a non issue considering the huge difference ininterest rates when buyers cannot the rates local banks charge.
I know of several pending sales that have fallen through because the complex did
not have approval for FHA and Fannie Mae loans. Unfortunately, that is most ofthe complexes in Bozeman.
This one issue is keeping many working families from affording housing.
