PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Describe present appearance of structure/site,then contrast and compare that with it's original appearance,
noting additions,alterations,and changes in materials. Discuss significant architectural features.
This detached two-story school has a rectangular plan with a metal band around
the top of the building and linear detailing in concrete throughout. The
two-bay facade is asymmetrical and consists of an off-center front entrance
with black glass industrial windows. The bearing wall construction is
finished in concrete and rests on a concrete and cinderblock foundation.
The flat built=up roof has newer additions on the south and the north.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Justify how the persons,important events,and/or historical patterns associated with the structure/site
and surrounding area lend the property significance.
This property is significant because this building is associated with a person
important to Bozeman history, Fred F. Willson. Son of General Lester Willson,
an early Bozeman resident, Willson was born in 1877 in Bozeman. Ile attended
Columbia University in architecture and studied two years abroad. He first
practied with C. S. Haire in I.elena, Montana. In his long Bozeman practice
from 1910-1956, he designed many public, commercial and residential buildings.

This structure qualifies as a contributing element within a potential historic
district due to Its association with the institutional aspect of the Nationali-
zation Phase of Bozeman 's historic/architectural development.
