Johns - Van Winkle Stadium Location1 Courtney Johnson From:Jessica Johns <jessica.onthemove@gmail.com> Sent:Tuesday, July 10, 2018 10:19 AM To:Courtney Johnson Cc:trustees@bsd7.org Subject:BHS Stadium To Whom This May Concern, I am a long-term resident of N. 15th Avenue, this plan will place the north end of the new stadium right behind my home. While I am an advocate for upgrades to the school campus, I am concerned that there are numerous potential issues that are not being addressed. My first concern is that there is already a lack of order on N. 15th when school is getting out. Student drivers FLY down 15th, often in excess of 40 MPH. I find it to be a safety issue that needs to be addressed by adding large speed humps between Beall St. and Durston as well as between Beall and Main St., much like there are on N. 22nd. In addition, it is also a good plan to add a 15mph speed limit for the hours of 8am-4pm, being that 15th is a school zone. Several residents are elderly, others have young children, and nearly everyone has animals, slowing down these drivers is a necessity. Stadium lights are another concern. The lights from the stadium will shine directly into the homes located on the East end of 15th. The lights from the hundreds of vehicles will shine directly into neighboring homes. There should be a better solution for the lights, although I do realize this is likely close to impossible. Parking in this area is already an issue, especially when homeowners are forced to purchase multiple parking permits to be able to park on our own street. Without adding additional parking, there will no-doubt be cars parking up and down 15th...including between driveways, up on the curbs etc. It makes no sense to build such large-capacity structures without addressing what will surely be a HUGE parking issue. The high school should not be able to use 15th Ave between Beall and Main and Beall and Durston for their parking needs, as this impedes on our rights and quality of living as property owners. Several residents already have experienced athletes, parents and other individuals harassing dogs, jumping fences into yards and otherwise causing issues near the homeowners' fences. I am concerned that I will have mounds of trash, more loitering and other undesirable events happening behind our homes between the stadium and our fences. I'd like to suggest that there be a SECURE buffer/privacy fence/bushes or otherwise to block students/parents/spectators from accessing our properties. Finally, I want to reiterate that I am all for expanding and making the stadium something for Bozeman to be proud of. I also am aware that purchasing a home in this area puts us at risk for eventual construction, such as what is proposed now. I hope that in reading this and other emails, you are able to put yourself in our shoes. Imagine that this is happening on your street, behind your home. What would you want YOU to consider? Please take this into consideration, I am not an angry owner like some around our neighborhood, I am a concerned owner who doesn't want to lose quality of life for myself and our families here. I ask that you separate me from the angry, aggressive owners and see me as a concerned mother and native of Bozeman who wishes to see amendments to this current plan. Thank you for taking the time to read this. 2 Regards, -- Jessica Johns 414 N. 15th Ave.
