Dear Chris,
Has anyone else been disappointed with the way the City handled the linear trail(Gallagator Trail) where it intersects the new extension of Graf Street? The City
commission is always talking about how valuable public space and trail systemsare for the people who live here. It is a large contributor to the quality of life. So if
trails are so important, how can they be so overlooked - and ruined- in theplanning and development process?
When the new portion of Graf Street was constructed, the contractors did notmaintain the trail during the construction process and the trail is still not
completed here. Instead, there is a sign with an arror that says “use the cross-walk”. What they don’t realize is this ruins the trial. You have to go way out of
your way to use the cross walk. Why don’t they just make the cross walk wherethe trail is? This makes so much more sense …. if you are the trail user. If you are
just some car-bound road planner, you figure the walkers can detour. Badplanning! The same sort of thing happened when the Museum of the Rockies took
over part of this linear trail. I guess they just figured people could detour aroundit. This disregard for trail right-of-way, and the ease and enjoyment of trail users
is what destroys trails (and quality of life). Please restore the trail right-of-wayacross Graff Street (and while you are at it, restore the portion of this trail across
the Museum of the Rockies property).David King, avid trail user
