oDear Ms.Surratt,
ar
= HRDC writes this year to respectfully request continued funding to support our ongoing
efforts to address critical needs in Bozeman, both on a service level and on a policy and
community development level.
Last year, HRDC was awarded funding equivalent to the value of a mill, funded at$14,400
from the Affordable Housing Fund for our Community Development work and
approximately$68,000 to support our services here needed. These funds will be
invested in our Warming Center and Fork&Spoon Kitchen.
At this time, HRDC wishes to request a continuation of that funding level. HRDC plays a
significant role in providing essential services to the Bozeman community, and is
frequently referred to as 'Bozeman's Safety Net',and in leveraging resources for the
community to address long-term challenges, not only in federal and state funding, but also
in fundraising from this community(more than$1 million dollars in 2017).
Currently, HRDC acts as the Instrumental Public Housing Authority for the City of Bozeman,
bringing in a broad array of supportive housing solutions that have a large impact on
affordability through alternative means (as opposed to constructing housing). However,
HRDC also acts as the Community Development Corporation for the City of Bozeman,
advocating for policy that impacts affordability and constructing actual affordable housing
options-from rentals to homeownership units. HRDC has been partnering with the City to
address affordable housing since the early 1990's,wherein HRDC created the first Housing
Land Trust in the State of Montana. HRDC's development activities have generated more
than 160 units of affordable housing in Bozeman alone. Our efforts do hello@thehrdc.org
not stop there. Our development activities have resulted in public
transportation systems, child care centers, and emergency shelters. a: 32 South Tracy

While funding is currently provided for our Transportation and
Homeownership Center functions,we seek funding for our (+-_i I RDC
