Please explain your relevant qualifications, interests and experiences:
I am interested in serving on this board for several reasons. First, I have been a Bozeman resident for 12
years, and am invested in seeing my home be the best place for people to live. I love Bozeman, and would
love to be a positive contributor to this community. Second, my educational background is in economics,
and I believe that I can bring relevant academic experience to this board. I have a Master's degree in
economics from Montana State University, with experience in data analysis and large data set
management. I think my formal education could add value to this group, and additional ideas on key
contributing factors to thriving markets and a strong local economy.
Lastly, I believe that my work history adds additional value and insight. I have worked at HRDC for three
years, with a focus on economic development. During my tenure, I have worked with clients with a wide
range of income and earning abilities. I have started a homeless youth shelter, started a social enterprise
business, and also run a free income tax preparation site serving over 600 clients (for a total of over
$800,000 of federal tax return dollars back to our valley!). Our focus at HRDC is to help our clients
participate in the local workforce in meaningful and impactful ways, and we provide services to support
individuals in gaining and maintaining stable employment. Additionally, I have been participating in the
Gallatin Valley Manufacturer's Partnership, with the aim at supporting local advanced manufacturers.
By participating in this group, I believe I can add value of a wide variety of perspectives of individuals living
in our valley, while also contributing technical academic thought.
