Bozeman Public Safety Facility on November 6, 2018 Ballot Commission Memorandum REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission FROM: Andrea Surratt, City Manager SUBJECT: Bozeman Public Safety Facility MEETING DATE: May 7, 2018 AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action RECOMMENDATION: Consider placing the Bozeman Public Safety Facility on the November 6, 2018 ballot. SUGGESTED MOTION: I move to direct the City Manager to bring back at an upcoming meeting the resolution with ballot language and levy amounts for final approval for placement of the Bozeman Public Safety Facility project on the November 6, 2018 general election ballot. BACKGROUND: On April 23, 2018, the City Commission voted 4-1 in favor of the Bozeman Public Safety Facility project over a joint Law Enforcement Center project. Conversations with County Commission members since that date have been supportive of the City of Bozeman pursuing this project and they have shared a willingness not to have a competing project on the November 6th ballot. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: Bring back a resolution to place the item on the November 6, 2018 ballot. ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. FISCAL EFFECTS: The Bozeman Public Safety Facility project will be factored in to the FY 18-19 Recommended Budget as needed. Attachments: none 300
