Commission Memorandum
REPORT TO: Honorable Mayor and City Commission
FROM: Andrea Surratt, City Manager
SUBJECT: Bozeman Public Safety Facility
MEETING DATE: May 7, 2018
AGENDA ITEM TYPE: Action
RECOMMENDATION: Consider placing the Bozeman Public Safety Facility on the November 6, 2018 ballot.
SUGGESTED MOTION: I move to direct the City Manager to bring back at an upcoming
meeting the resolution with ballot language and levy amounts for final approval for placement of
the Bozeman Public Safety Facility project on the November 6, 2018 general election ballot.
BACKGROUND: On April 23, 2018, the City Commission voted 4-1 in favor of the Bozeman Public Safety Facility project over a joint Law Enforcement Center project. Conversations with
County Commission members since that date have been supportive of the City of Bozeman
pursuing this project and they have shared a willingness not to have a competing project on the
November 6th ballot. UNRESOLVED ISSUES: Bring back a resolution to place the item on the November 6, 2018
ballot.
ALTERNATIVES: As suggested by the City Commission. FISCAL EFFECTS: The Bozeman Public Safety Facility project will be factored in to the FY
18-19 Recommended Budget as needed.
