Hi Terry-
Thank you for getting back to me so fast, and yes, next week will be just fine. Please do sharethis with the other commissioners. I left Chris Mehl a brief voice mail about it as well. I
really do believe this is something very important and timely for the City to understand andaddress, and it sounds like the Strategic Plan might be a good avenue to do so. I received a
credit inquiry from Bob Murray a few years ago regarding a road expansion project on BaxterLane, I will forward you the exchange. I tried to explain to him the benefits of why the City
should consider purchasing the wetland credits from MARS but he opted to go with the lowprice and purchase from the Hamilton Bank instead.
Sincerely,Wendy

Hi Terry-
I was wondering if you would be interested in meeting or setting up a time to talk on the phone
about information Natalie Meyer sent me about the City’s efforts to develop the Strategic Plan. She
mentioned you thought it would be a good idea to add a habitat, riparian conservation component
to the plan. This is an excellent suggestion and such an important consideration! It’s great timing
after I recently saw a Public Notice the Army Corps of Engineers issued regarding a new hotel
going up on Baxter Lane which is going to permanently impact almost 6 acres of wetlands. The
permit indicates that the permittee, Bennett Hospitality/Embassy Suites,
(http://www.nwo.usace.army.mil/Portals/23/docs/regulatory/publicnotices/MT/NWO-2017-01084-
MTH.pdf?ver=2018-03-28-155522-920) is going to purchase their wetland credits from the
Hamilton Bank in Twin Bridges, which would essentially permanently remove 6 acres of Bozeman’s
precious wetlands and the critical ecosystem system services they provide, from the City of
Bozeman landscape and send them to Twin Bridges. It makes me wonder how many acres
Bozeman has cumulatively lost to development over the years. I have some ideas on how the City
might address this and would love to discuss more. Let me know when you might be able to either
meet in person on talk on the phone.
Sincerely,
Wendy
