Dear Bozeman City commission,
My naive is Ansel Spitler and I am a student of Headwaters Academy. Did you
know that about 300 million tons of plastic is made every year only 9% of that plastic is
recycled and the rest is turned into waste? About 1.1 million animals die every year
because of plastic waste? Some birds eat so much plastic that they can't even fly! The
city commission is great at making the laws and taxes but if the use of plastic bags went
down just a little it would help the environment and the animals.
Plastic bags have been polluting earth for years. If people didn't use or used plastic
bags less often, the pollution in bozeman would go down a lot.
Could the City Commission mandate that stores charge 100 a bags? People would
be less inclined to buy/use plastic bags. That would help the creatures of the ocean and
lots of birds.
Sincerely,
Ansel Spitler
