Dear Bozeman City Commision,
My name is Jude Wolfe, I go to Headwaters Academy. I write to the Bozeman City
Commision in advocation for our Earth's oceans and wildlife. I know the commision works very
hard for the betterment of our great city. I am asking the conunision to consider a ban on stores
distributing plastic bags as this would improve the surrounding environment of Bozeman and the
world alike.
According to Matt Brown, a US Fish and Wildlife Service employee and a wildlife
expert, "Every single albatross in this landscape (the ocean), has been fed plastic."As if this
wasn't enough,plastic production continues to surge onward and according to CNN by 2025; in
weight there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans which will affect all the wildlife in the
world, and even Montana.
I believe that we can help reduce the waste that is murdering our wildlife by banning or
taxing plastic bags. There are many grocery stores in Bozeman which distribute plastic carrying
bags, and not only are plastic bags one of the easiest varieties of waste to get in the ocean and the
wild,but they also are one of the primary killers of wildlife. Please recognize the dangers of
plastic waste, and consider taking action for our beautiful city and world, for as humans it is our
responsibility to protect the Earth.
