SUBJECT: Reappointment(s) to the Downtown Area Urban Renewal District Board
(DURB)

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to reappoint up to two members to the Downtown Area
Urban Renewal District Board to the following positions and terms:
One non-voting position with a term ending June 30, 2018 to a voting position with a term ending
June 30, 2020, and/or
One voting position with a term ending June 30, 2020 to a non-voting position with a term ending
June 30, 2018.
BACKGROUND: The Downtown Urban Renewal District Board (DURB) membership currently
contains one non-voting member who lives inside of City limits with a term expiring June 30, 2018
and one voting member who lives outside of City limits with a term expiring June 30, 2020. The
DURB is requesting to move the current non-voting member into the voting position, with a term
expiration of June 30, 2020 and the current voting member into the non-voting position with a
term expiration of June 30, 2018. The current voting member has confirmed he moved out of City
limits.
The Downtown Bozeman Improvement District Board (DURB) was created under the Urban
Renewal Plan, which was adopted by the Commission under Ordinance No. 1409 on November
20, 1995. The Board consists of five voting members who shall have a demonstrated interest in
downtown Bozeman, and two non-voting members. The Mayor shall appoint the members, with
the advice and consent of the City Commission. In accordance with Section 7-15-4234, M.C.A.,
members shall serve staggered four-year terms. The voting members shall be residents of the city,
and a majority of the voting members shall not hold any other public office under the
municipality. Non-voting members must possess a demonstrated interest in downtown Bozeman
and may represent a specified list of organizations which include, but are not limited to, the Parking
Commission, Chamber of Commerce, MSU/Museum of the Rockies, Gallatin Development
Corporation, Bozeman School District, City of Bozeman, Gallatin County and the Downtown

Bozeman Association. Non-voting members need not be city residents. This board is
administrative.
The City Clerk’s Office has two applications on file, with their relevant qualifications
indicated below.
1. Non-voting position, expiring June 30, 2018 | Qualifies: B. Stoddart (moving from voting
to non-voting)
2. Voting position, expiring June 20, 2020 | Qualifies: T. Renslow (moving from non-voting
to voting)

professional business is Downtown. I've lived in Bozeman for 22+ years and have been working in the
Downtown core for the past 12+ years. Downtown Bozeman is where I spend my time & money and am
committed to making Downtown continue to better itself.
