I feel that Montana State University should take more responsibility for the infrastructure around the
campus. They are striving to increase enrollment and building new buildings and garages, but then leave it
to city/county taxpayers to pay for road and intersection improvements.
The city paid for the roundabout at College and 11th street, and worked on Kagy last summer to
accommodate MSU traffic. Kagy is still backed up to 19th (sometimes clear back to College) in the
mornings, and South 19th heading north is gridlocked at quitting time.
MSU has been building dormitories, but they admit that they do not provide nearly enough housing for the
students. Instead, they spill out to the community and drive the rents up for citizens who are working in
Bozeman, and create sprawl out to Belgrade where it is more affordable. Not a single one of my co-workers
(10) live in Bozeman.
