HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-28-18 Public Comment - S. & J. Darr - Alcohol RadiusMarch 28, 2018 Dear Bozeman City Commissioners, My name is Susanna Darr and I live at 901 South 3rd Avenue. My husband’s name is Joe Darr. My comments are in regard to proposed Ordinance 1999 amending Sections 4 & 38 of the Bozeman Municipal Code. We own several establishments (Roost Fried Chicken, Victory Taco and Genuine Ice Cream) and believe that thriving downtown (B3) and midtown (B2M) districts are crucial to the success of Bozeman. I would like to see the city support and facilitate the opening and operating of establishments helping to create thriving restaurant, bar and entertainment districts in the downtown and midtown areas. This is not only great for our community but also for tourism and the accompanying revenue for our city. Our family of 4 (Susanna, Joe and 4 year old twins) attend the church on the corner of Olive and Willson (BUMC)and we see no concern to serving alcohol in close proximity. Churches are vital to a community and often centrally located (particularly historic churches as the ones downtown). The ordinance 1999 is outdated particularly in this time when downtown food and beverage establishments are key to our community. As such, I suggest that the city adopt all of the proposed changes to section 4 and strike all of the proposed restrictions in section 38 and allow a City Beer License With Wine Amendment to operate anywhere in the B3 and B2M districts as the licenses were intended by the state. Thank you for your consideration. Susanna and Joe Darr 901 South 3rd Avenue
