• At 12:05 pm, the TBID Meeting was called to order
• Introductions
• Disclosures – None
• Minutes from previous meeting – Motion to approve by Eric, second by Andrew.
Motion approved.
• Public Comment – None
• Gregg from Prime, Inc. gave the marketing report and website update. Based on
historical traffic January has been very active. Social media experienced a 529%
increase for January. Facebook had the best month yet. Good growth over all platforms
Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Site had a Ranking the Best Hot Springs Blog go
viral(18,991 views). The group discussed billboards. Both billboards are lit and have
new graphics. A winter photo shoot was conducted and should produce good images.
• Doug Robertson from Blitz Soccer presented the Yellowstone Kickoff Classic. Thanked
the TBID for support and gave a quick update on event. The event saw teams from
Seattle, North Dakota and South Dakota. Goal is to grow the event and hopes TBID will
continue support.
• Chris Tarabochia from the Hardwood Classic and Big Sky Classic presented an update on
the outcome of the Hardwood Classic and made a grant request for the Big Sky Classic.
The Hardwood Classic hosted 162 teams and facilitated 364 games. The estimated
room revenue was $392,610 which is 126% ROI. It is also estimated that $785,000 was
brought into the community. Many of the participants commented that the Hardwood
Classic is the best tournament in Montana. Chris also made a grant request of $7600 for
the Big Sky Classic to pay for referees. The tournament is comprised of 70 teams, with
an estimated 600 players, families and fans attending and is projecting $127,000 in
revenue. Larry made the motion to grant $7600 to pay for referees, second by Eric.
Motion was approved.
• Beth Ann Kennedy from the Bozeman Film Celebration presented the premier event the
Bozeman International Film Festival which will run June 7 -10, 2018. The Bozeman Film
Celebration has partnered with MSU to show 70 films to an estimated 2000+ people.
Approximately 495 rooms will be utilized with projected revenue of $88,000. The Film
Celebration is seeking $10,000 for advertising. Andrew made the motion to grant
$10,000 to pay for advertising, second by Eric. Motion was approved.
• Kandice Gregorak and Debby O’Reilly from Big Sky Volleyball presented the Best in the
West Volleyball Tournament that is scheduled for April 14 - 15. It is the largest AAU
volleyball tournament in Montana. It has grown from 70 teams last year to 160 teams
in 2018. An estimated 2000 people will attend the tournament. The expected room
revenue is approximately $260,000. A request for $20,000 to pay for facilities and
referees was made. Andrew made a motion to grant up to $20,000 for facilities and
referees, second by Ashley. Motion was approved.
• Dax Schieffer from Voices of Montana gave an update on a couple issues. The first item
was taxes in Montana. This includes how Montana taxes and if it is relevant, the
consumption tax and general sales tax. He also discussed Airbnb and that the hotel
industry is represented by a lobbyist on this issue.
• Daryl gave the Financial Report. He also discussed that AZ Accounting will provide
formal documents for by-laws rewrite. Andrew motioned to approve the financial report
as presented, second by Larry. Motion approved.
• Motion to adjourn by Andrew, second by Eric. Motion approved. Meeting adjourned.
